Resistance of Wood Treated with Iron Compounds against Wood-Destroying Decay and Mould Fungi

چکیده

Treatment of wood with various physical and chemical factors can change the number parameters, which also lead to changes in resistance wood-destroying fungi. This study evaluates effects hydrothermal treatments (additives Fe2O3 or FeCl3 without commercial tannins, additives fresh wood) on decay mould fungi modified Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris), Norway spruce (Picea abies), Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii), walnut (Juglans regia), maple (Acer platanoides). For samples, against Trametes versicolor (white rot) Coniophora puteana (brown Aspergillus niger Penicillium sp. were assessed. The findings showed that iron compounds could cause a higher weight losses control wood, caused by T. C. puteana, differed for coniferous deciduous: average loss treated pine, spruce, was than versicolor, while these differences not significant. treatment Fe2Cl3 tannins significantly reduced slightly improved resistance. hydrothermally + area both tested smallest all tree species compared other treatments. A different response obtained deciduous wood. followed most resistant Relatively low fixed compounds, except gave very positive

Toxicity of dyes and related compounds to wood-destroying fungi.

In 1891 Ehrlich demonstrated the antimalarial activity of methylene blue and a few years later discovered that trypan red would kill trypanosomes. These disclosures helped lay the foundations of chemotherapy. Since that time many workers have studied the effects of dyes on microorganisms, among them Stearn and Stearn (1924). Dion and Lord (1944) and Aiquel and Herraro (1948) have shown that bas...

Decay Resistance of Treated Wood with Functionalised Commercial Silicones

Three commercial silicone emulsions with different functional groups i.e., quat-silicone micro-emulsion (<40 nm particle size), amino-silicone macro-emulsion (110 nm), and silicone macro-emulsion with alkylmodified side groups (740 nm) were used to protect wood samples against fungal decay. The addition of the emulsions to an agar growth medium revealed that all three silicone formulations inhi...

Evaluation of Decay Resistance for Steam-heat- Treated Wood

The objective of this research was to evaluate the influence of steamheat treatment on the decay resistance of Chinese white poplar and Chinese fir wood against the wood-rotting fungi Gloeophyllum trabeum (Pers.:Fr.) Murrill. The Chinese white poplar and Chinese fir specimens were obtained from Shandong and Hunan provinces, respectively. They were steam-heat-treated at 170, 185, 200, 215, or 23...

Effects of Nano-clay on Biological Resistance of Wood- Plastic Composite against Five Wood-deteriorating Fungi

Effects of nano-clay on weight loss of wood-plastic composites (WPC) by five fungi were studied. Nanoclay particles of 20 to 50 nm size were applied at 2, 4, and 6% WPC of 0,90 g/cm3 density. The white-rot fungi Physisporinus vitreus, Pleurotus ostreatus and Trametes versicolor as well as the brown-rot species Antrodia vaillantii and Coniophora puteana were used. Mass loss tests were conducted ...
